Trip Description and Brief Itinerary

This is going to be an awesome trip with some of the best whitewater on the West Coast! So what’s the big deal in rafting the same river twice? It’s twice the fun, twice the thrills and it’s never the same run! Your guides will ensure you have an absolute blast on this one – especially on the second run. You have the confidence after the first day, you’ve got the game face on so get ready because you will go big on the second run. You definitely want to arrive the day before your trip at our deluxe river campground, complete with indoor restrooms and free hot showers, swimming pool, volleyball court, and more, situated just above Troublemaker Rapid on the South Fork.

You will begin early each morning on this two-day white water river rafting adventure on the Middle Fork of the American. A delicious continental breakfast is served at 7:00 AM before heading off on the shuttle vans to the river. The drive out is gorgeous as you make your way through the South Fork and Middle Fork valleys and up to Forest Hill. Soon you’ll drive down Tahoe National Forest to Oxbow Dam and to the put-in point for your rafting tour. After unloading the rafts your guides will give you your rafting gear as well as a detailed safety talk.

Soon you will be on the raft and getting right amongst it in Good Morning Rapid and, before you know it, you’ll be screaming down the world-famous Tunnel Chute Rapid! After recovering at the bottom, you’ll float on down to encounter Chunder, Mushroom, Bus Crash, Kanaka, and many more. On the second run, try not to crash so hard in Bus Crash, attempt the hard aggressive line in Kanaka, and try not to hold on in Tunnel Chute!

A big hearty lunch will be served riverside on both days and after lunch, it’s back for more action in Cleavage, Parallel Parking, and heaps more. You’ll get to walk around the only Class 6 on the river a pretty consequential rapid called Ruck-a-Chucky. The guides will take the rafts down this rapid and hopefully stay upright at the bottom. Regardless it’s always entertaining to watch!

You’ll reach the take-out between 3:30 to 4:30 PM for the drive back to the Coloma campsite. Ice cold water and soft drinks will be served on the shuttle back. After returning from the river on the first day, you will enjoy some tasty hors d’oeuvres and free time until we serve a delicious dinner prepared by our experienced Chef.

There are limited spaces available on the Middle Fork. Weekends fill up fast so book soon!
