Heading to Hot August Nights in Reno? Join us before or after for a rafting trip you will long remember.

Great roads to tour in our area along Highway 49! South Lake Tahoe just 1 1/2 hours away. Yosemite 3 hours! Reno 2 1/2 hours.

State Route 49 is a north–south state highway in the U.S. state of California that passes through many historic mining communities of the 1849 California gold rush. Highway 49 is numbered after the "49ers", the waves of immigrants who swept into the area looking for gold, and a portion of it is known as the Gold Country Highway. This roadway begins at Oakhurst, Madera County.

A number of historical landmarks are passed; The Butte Store (CHL #39) is the only structure remaining of Butte City, prosperous mining town of the 1850s. Argonaut and Kennedy Mines (CHL #786) were two of the highest-yielding gold mines in the state. Drytown (CHL #31) is the oldest town in Amador County and the first in the county in which gold was discovered. Coloma (CHL #143, #530, and #748)is where gold was first discovered in 1848, sparking the gold rush. It is home of the Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park. Empire Mine in Grass Valley (registered landmark #298) was the richest hard-rock mine in California in its mining history of 106 years (1850–1956). Camptonville is a gold rush town where the Pelton wheel was invented and is a Historic Civil Engineering Landmark.

I just wanted to write you and tell you how wonderful our trip experience was. We recently rafted (for the very first time!) two days on the South Fork and can't wait to come back to try the Middle and North Fork. The service both before and during our trip was outstanding. Our raft guide (Cristy) was top-notch, she was outstanding and deserves a BIG raise. :-) In fact all of the guides and employees were so friendly and wonderful. The food was superb! I can't say enough good things; we will definitely return and will raft with you all again.

Thanks for such an amazing experience!!!
