This year American Whitewater Expeditions celebrates its 31st year as the premier whitewater rafting company on the American River, providing over 220,000 rafters with a first class trip. Our goal has always been to furnish quality rafting adventures that are exciting, relaxing, and most importantly, lots of fun!
When you raft with American Whitewater you know you are getting a top quality trip: our guides are super-competent and friendly, our rafting equipment is always new, our campsite is comfortable with clean restrooms and showers, and our menu is simply gourmet! With three different rivers and three levels of adventure to choose from, we can give anyone from ages 6 to 70-plus a really good time American River Rafting.
Our superb area manager or I will be on-site throughout the American River rafting season to personally oversee our trips.

NEW FOR 2011 - WE NOW OWN OUR OWN CAMP SITE!!!
We now own our own camp site and only a few minor improvements remain to be done. The grass is in , split rail fencing is everywhere, fire pits, picnic tables are abundant. Native plants are all around the kitchen and the mister system is fully operational ensuring you stay cool while eating under the dining canopy.
First Rate Equipment and Staff
- High-tech, custom-designed self-bailing Hyside rafts. Custom built and rigged just for our rivers, our rafts are super tough and durable and the standard of the industry.
- We have the newest equipment on the river. All of our rafting equipment is newer than 3 years.
- Comfortable, Coast Guard -approved life jackets.
- In-house Honda Jet Ski raft tow service at the end of your South Fork trip
- Friendly experienced and well-trained staff. Our U.S. and international river guides have years of experience in whitewater skills and have the ability to make a river trip a special event in your life. All are friendly, talented, professional individuals who love river rafting and have a desire to share their love of the outdoors with you. Everyone is ready with a kind word, a helping hand and is great to be around.
- For your safety; Helmets are provided on all trips.
- All of our guides are Red Cross certified in First Aid and CPR and most are certified in Advanced First Aid, Swift Water Rescue and as EMT's or Paramedics.

I have been telling all my friends to go out and raft with AWE. Your guides are awesome.
They made an excellent hearty lunch, brought us the greatest adventure ever and worked on the 4th of July. Our guide- Kaitlin is the best. She is very professional, skillful and cool. Everybody in the boat is a beginner but yet she made us feel confident in ourselves. I am so confident in her that I told my friends to request for her when they go up there.
Hope to raft with you guys soon. Once again thanks for a memorable adventure.

 American Whitewater Expeditions is Eco-Friendly! We Care!
We are as "green" as we can be. We recycle all aluminum, plastic, and glass bottles and paper products and use washable plates, cups and silverware to keep the campground and environment clean We compost all vegetable matter and use only diesel vehicles which are very fuel efficient compared to those powered by gasoline. We also use LED lights when possible.
Please recycle, for we only have the present to save the future.
American Whitewater Expeditions actively supports Friends of the River [F.O.R.] through donations, river trips and gear. You'll find F.O.R. literature at our camp. We also support the American River Land Trust.
Hot water in the bathroom and shower facility is provided by on-demand water heaters. Very fuel efficient!
